MENTORING

The word “mentor” is defined as a trusted counselor or guide. The adults that serve as mentors for the Rock House are background-checked and selected via a thorough interview process and receive training throughout the year. These volunteers donate their time and experience to be paired one-on-one with a student to offer support, friendship, and guidance that encourages these adolescents to thrive in these formative years. This free mentoring program occurs every Tuesday at 3:30 in a group setting during the school year with recreational and educational activities, whether that is community service, teaching life skills, or just plain fun events that they may not have the chance to experience otherwise. The Rock House has a mission to support families and our community and empower our 6th-12th graders, and mentoring is an integral component to accomplish this goal.
